THE INSIDE SCOOP
We created our own unique flavor of ice cream to represent the College of Journalism and Mass Communications. We took a sweet ice mixture, espresso syrups, and a combination of donuts until the perfect flavor was born - "The Inside Scoop". This flavor is perfect for those who love reading the news, watching the news, writing the news, or just love breakfast.

We first conducted research on the history and components of ice cream to understand what all goes into the process of creating the dessert. Once we were able to better understand it, we were ready get to work and make it.

Our next step was to pick a flavor that represented the College of Journalism and Mass Communications.
Our group sat down and brainstormed what flavor we could create that would connect to our college in a relevant and delicious way. We realized news is best served with breakfast (specifically a donut and coffee) and the idea for our flavor began.

We taste tested 6 different combinations of our flavorings until we found the perfect combination: the recipe for the Inside Scoop.
Once we knew what flavor we wanted to create, we teamed up with the UNL Innovation Campus Food Processing team to put our plan into action.

We were able to add in syrups, sweeteners, and donut pieces to our own ice cream mixture. We processed the mixture and step by step, created our very own unique flavor of ice cream.

After letting the ice cream freeze, we took home 6 separate pints of potential final products to decide which best represented our flavor.
Our team is full of people who love two things: ice cream and news. This flavor was a match made in heaven for our group.
