History
Bath has a deep history that began thousands of years ago and continues to stand to this day. Bath began in the Roman era and used to be known as Aquae Sulis. The Romans discovered a natural hot spring and decided to build baths and temples in the area. The dark ages then came around and Bath was no longer owned by the Romans. This is when the Anglo-Saxons decided to settle in this area and create a market. This town become prosperous once again, and many medieval buildings that are still around today were constructed. In the 18th century John Wood the Elder and Younger began constructing notable buildings during this time. Some notable buildings that were built include The Royal Crescent and the Circus. The hot springs continued attracting people from all around the world and made Bath a famous city. As time went on the hot springs were not the ones bringing people in anymore and it became a place for manufacturers and engineers. Today Bath still stands and it attracts tourist from all around the world who want to see the beauty this city has.

In the 16th century King Henry VII dissolved all monasteries. The abbey in Bath was looted and left it ruins because of this.
